JOB TITLE: Medical Director

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Medical Affairs

POSITION: Part-time, exempt, 24 hours per week (within Mon-Fri 9am-5pm ET range with flexibility to join calls Monday-Friday)



Innovation Partners, LLC (IP) is a growing, high-touch biomedical consulting company that partners with a variety of U.S. and global clients to bring their oncology innovations and other products to a successful U.S. market launch and commercialization. The Medical Director will assist the team in reviewing, analyzing, and creating medical and scientific content to support the client’s strategic objectives. The right individual will bring a variety of skills and experience to the role, will be practiced within oncology/ hematology, comfortable operating in a fast paced and agile environment and excited by the opportunity to design and contribute to client success in a variety of ways.  

  • Innovation Partners, LLC (IP) is focused on collaborating with biopharmaceutical, medical device and molecular diagnostic manufacturers to make their innovations accessible to patients, providers, and payer stakeholders.  
  • Client roster includes innovators in oncology, hematology, and rare diseases. Core services and capabilities include market and payer access, qualitative and quantitative market research, and medical affairs and education. 
  • We have partnered with our clients to support 65+ hematology / oncology brand development and launch strategies.  
  • Geographic scope of client base includes U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Medical Writing/ Content Development 

  • Apply   background knowledge/experience in oncology/hematology space to analyze data sets, perform secondary literature research, and interview stakeholders, as needed  
  • Translate data and secondary research into various written materials for presentation to internal team and to clients including: compendia/ pathway submissions, publications, advisory board executive summaries, slide decks for various audiences, KOL 1:1 summaries, white papers, dossiers, publication plans, scientific platforms, etc. 
  • Create final deliverables in a variety of formats (ppt, word, excel) that is properly referenced and annotated.  
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and the client to iterate written documents incorporating feedback and strategic direction provided by others as needed  
  • Provide strategic input as to medical content, project design, future deliverables and collaborate with Executive Director, Medical Affairs and Business Development as needed 
  • Review medical and scientific content to serve as a resource to colleagues as needed  

Secondary Research 

  • Research tasks are needed in all areas of the organization and could include:  
  • Developing research strategy.  
  • Undertaking secondary research online/ via databases.  
  • Analyze industry relevant information for example: coverage policies, pathways positioning, compendia, published clinical trial data etc.  
  • Competitive intelligence gathering from literature and/or conference presentations.   
  • Landscape analysis.  


  • Work closely with Project Managers and other colleagues to execute projects to high standards within budget and timeline parameters.  
  • Collaborate with Business Development as needed. 
  • Collaborate with vendors and consultants as needed. 
  • Provide strategic input to project scopes and recommendations serving as a thought partner to Executive Director, Medical Affairs.  
  • Serve in a client facing role when needed modeling professionalism, IP core values and clear and concise verbal communication.   
  • IP Clients are located within different time zones across the US and Europe so flexibility may be needed to adapt to a variety of time zones when necessary, though most meetings are within a 9AM-5PM ET day. 

Team Engagement  

  • Model Innovation Partners Core Values at all times. 
  • Engage in weekly team meetings, quarterly team summits and other team/ planning/ strategy meetings as needed some via Zoom and some in-person.  
  • Prepare reports, materials, presentations as needed for team meetings.  
  • Develop and follow internal core processes. 
  • Proactively identify issues and efficiency barriers and suggest and implement solutions.  
  • Travel as needed to engage in team/client events (e.g., annual summits, ad boards, conferences) – approximately 10-15% travel or 6-7 short trips/year 



  • Degree required Masters, PhD, MD, or PharmD preferred  
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant biopharmaceutical oncology/ hematology experience within the agency/ freelancer setting   
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of medical/scientific communication/writing experience  
  • Experience writing for different audiences (MDs, AHPs, MSLs, Sales force, writings, payers) 
  • Experience synthesizing complex concepts and distill down clear, core messages 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in the English language 
  • Comfort communicating directly with clients, listening, asking questions, presented ideas

Physical Demands

The physical demands of this job are consistent with light office duties. Approximately 10-15% travel or 6-7 short trips/year
