Innovation Partners, LLC (IP) is a growing, high-touch biomedical consulting company that partners with a variety of U.S. and global clients to bring their oncology innovations and other products to a successful U.S. market launch and commercialization. The Market Research Associate Director position offers a unique opportunity to rapidly learn about the commercial side of the pharmaceutical industry.  In this role, the Market Research Associate Director will interact with clients, provide strategic input to project scopes, and manage custom market research projects from start to finish. In addition to highly customized market research (both qualitative and quantitative), within the oncology, hematology and rare disease therapy areas, there is an opportunity to learn about adjacent areas such as Medical Affairs and Market Access.

Market Research Tasks 

Strategy and Business Development (20%) 

  • Participate actively in the business development process, supporting market research services and solutions pitches, engaging with clients to understand their business needs, and designing customized solutions  
  • Evaluate market research Business Development opportunities and strategies with the support of the Leadership and Business Development teams 
  • Provide content and strategic input to SOWs to ensure projects can be appropriately operationalized including identifying methodologies, determining deliverables, supporting budget development (including sourcing any necessary vendors/consultants), developing project timeline(s), and supporting the development of project staffing plan(s). 
  • Work closely with the Director of Business Development, Executive Director of Medical Affairs, and Director of Market Access to align on market research services and solutions for clients including providing the content for pitch materials and for the website and other marketing materials as needed  
  • Attend conferences and networking events as needed to develop relationships with key stakeholders and pitch Innovation Partner’s market research services 

Project Execution, Content Development and Adjacent Consultancies (60%) 

  • Manage market research projects end to end for the entire life cycle to include: 
  • Sample criteria and screener development 
  • Research design (discussion guide and questionnaire development) and methodology 
  • Moderation of qualitative interviews 
  • Data management, cleaning, and QCing 
  • Analysis, interpretation of results and reporting, including executive summary creation 
  • Other market research project tasks such as (but not limited to) 
  • Creation of note-taking templates 
  • Analysis of transcripts and moderator notes for reporting 
  • Headlining of slides and elevation of findings to insights 
  • Liaising with graphic design team to develop final deliverables/graphics 
  • Management of complex, multi-faceted projects, where deadlines and budgets must be met. 
  • Determine and execute appropriate, often customized, methodologies as client needs shift. 
  • Identify changes in scope as requested by clients and discuss with the project team and business development. 
  • Ability to travel for work up to 20% required (approximately 4-8 trips per year, some overnight travel (2-4 days), mostly US, some over weekends). This would include client meetings, client research in facilities, at conferences, as well as IP in-person meetings, etc. 
  • As needed support team members/projects and complete other tasks as assigned within medical affairs, market access and related custom engagements. Tasks may include: 
  • Secondary Research 
  • Moderation of non-Market Research Projects 
  • Disease state knowledge transfer 
  • Strategic support 
  • As needed, support research projects related to internal IP proprietary research needs, working in collaboration with department leads to determine research objectives, timelines, and budgets.  

Market Research Resources and Relationships (15%) 

  • Liaising regularly with all key stakeholders to ensure that reliable results are delivered to the client in a timely, cost-efficient manner. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients by responding to queries and providing updates proactively as well as per client requests. 
  • Support in the oversight of any internal recruiting databases providing recommendations and implementing improvements. 
  • Oversee and source both vendors and contractors and work closely with them to ensure high-quality execution of projects. 
  • As needed manage direct reports.  

Team Engagement (5%) 

  • Model Innovation Partners Core Values at all times. 
  • Engage in weekly team meetings, quarterly team summits and other team/ planning/ strategy meetings as needed some via Zoom some in-person.  
  • Prepare reports, materials, presentations as needed for team meetings. 
  • Role will interface with direct manager, colleagues in other areas (such as finance when managing budgets and expenses) and business leadership team. 



  • Bachelor’s Degree or related healthcare degree required, Advanced Degree preferred  
  • Market research professional with a minimum of 4 years’ relevant biopharmaceutical oncology/ hematology experience in a healthcare market research agency or consultancy required 
  • Experience with the range of custom quantitative and qualitative research engagements required 
  • Experience project managing end to end the entire life cycle to include proposal development (and methodology determination), screener development, discussion guide and questionnaire development, data management, and reporting. 
  • Experience as a moderator is required – ability to moderate custom qualitative research interviews among a variety of healthcare stakeholders 
  • Prior experience (work or education) with data analytics considered a plus 
  • Prior experience in secondary research, including data mining, analysis and reporting considered a plus 
  • Experience with market research operations (vendor estimate requests, vendor management, etc.) a plus

  • Experienced and competent in using Microsoft Suite/ 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
